You’re Never Too Young to Change the World: The Life and Times of George Bridgetower with Chineke! Junior Orchestra, Imagine Festival, Southbank Centre, 2020
Collaborating with Chineke! Junior Orchestra, I researched, devised and composed a 60 minute monologue written specifically for Southbank Centre’s Imagine Festival 2020. It dramatised the life of black virtuoso violinist, George Bridgetower, who inspired Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonata. I performed the monologue with the 60 piece Chineke! Junior Orchestra in the Clore Ballroom of the Royal Festival Hall shortly before the first pandemic lockdown.
Music featured:
Extracts from the ‘Kreutzer’ Sonata by Beethoven
